I am a licensed clinical psychologist and Psychoanalyst (PSY26909) in private practice in Beverly Hills. I received my undergraduate degree at The University of Colorado, at Boulder, where I majored in Psychology and minored in French. I then received my Masters degree in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University in Los Angeles. I received my Doctorate degree from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, at Los Angeles and completed my formal three year post-doctoral psych assistantship at The Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills. Here, I received invaluable training in psychodynamic theory and technique, working with adults, couples and groups.
Due to my commitment to further my education, I pursued a second doctoral degree at The New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles, where I am a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association.
As Adjunct Professor at The Chicago School for Professional Psychology, Los Angeles, I am passionate about giving back to the psychology community that fostered much of my education and to be a contributing member for the new generation of professionals within my field. It is for this reason that I also maintain a Supervisory position at the Wright Institute, Los Angeles.
I am President of The Foundation of LACPA, the non-profit and benevolent arm of the Los Angeles County Psychological Association, which I am devoted to.
Over the years we have supported many community agencies and groups and we regularly sponsor educational and skill building opportunities for those entering into and already in the mental health field.
I am the Chair of the Admissions Committee at the New Center for Psychoanalysis (NCP), as well as Chair of the Clinical Moments Committee, which I feel passionately about, as it facilitates and spreads awareness of the value of psychoanalysis within the community.

Psychotherapy offers a safe space to help you make sense of whatever it is you are struggling with. It allows you to take the time to be curious about yourself while exploring ways to improve your life. Sometimes it is difficult to know what it is that needs to change in your life and other times you may know exactly what is wrong yet can’t seem to change it or don’t know how. Throughout our lives we face many changes. There may be a crisis or a dilemma, perhaps there is a traumatic event, a major transition, or a huge loss or a death in our lives. These situations can cause fear, insecurity, grief, chaos, anger, sadness and confusion and may create symptoms. It is also possible that nothing has changed externally yet you feel something inside you has shifted and you can’t figure out why. Psychotherapy can help.
The psychotherapy relationship is a unique one in that it is designed to be rather one- sided. Although the main goal of the psychotherapeutic relationship is to offer you support, to listen and to learn from you in order to relieve your pain, I will also challenge you at times when I feel it is necessary. I work from an analytic model and have a collaborative and interactive approach. I work with many different kinds of people, all with varying issues and unique relationship styles. I have a specialty for working with twins, individually or together, as this is a relationship unlike any other and often times requires special attention.
Psychotherapy sessions are by appointment only, Monday–Friday. Sessions are 45 minutes in length for individuals and meet 1-2 per week. Couples sessions range from 50-75 minutes depending on the different needs of couples and meet 1-2 times per week.

Psychoanalysis is a more in depth and intensive process than Psychotherapy. Together, we explore your deepest thoughts and feelings and connect them to experiences from your past in order to work through the present issue. Symptoms are seen as signs of deeper, core issues that are rooted in the past. These wounds need to be recognized and worked through so that real healing can take place and your true self can be seen. This is why trust in the therapeutic relationship is so important. By looking at dreams we also access the unconscious, which can hold our true fears and desires, and better understand what is creating the symptomology that is interfering with your ability to move forward. I am a Certified Psychoanalyst at (The New Center for Psychoanalysis). Sessions are by appointment only, are 45 minutes in length and range from 3-4 times a week.
I can be reached by telephone at (310) 601-6754 where you can leave a confidential voice mail if I am unavailable or by email at drsidoniefreeman@gmail.com. Please include your contact information and some convenient times that I may reach you so that we can talk about whether or not we are the right match. If I am not the right fit for you, I will try to guide you in the right direction and provide you with a more appropriate person or setting. I look forward to hearing from you.
